Promo covers iPads, Macs
Apple on Monday launched its 2012 Back to School promotion, giving educational shoppers the chance to get an App Store/Mac App Store gift card when buying specific products. The company's usual education pricing still applies. This is the first year, though, in which cards are also being given out to people buying iPads.
To qualify for the promotion, people must buy a Mac or an iPad for school between now and September 21st. Customers buying an iPad will receive a $50 gift card, while those buying a Mac get the standard $100 card. Eligible people include active college students, students accepted to a college, parents buying for college students, and faculty and staff of any grade level.
Purchases can go through the Apple Online Store for Education, a retail Apple Store, or an Apple-authorized campus store. Customers get their gift cards at the same time as their purchase. In general, the educational discount saves between $50 and $200 on systems like the recently refreshed MacBook Air and MacBook Pro.
