LG 's Galaxy S III challenger goes on sale

LG's answer to Samsung's Galaxy S III, the LG Optimus 4X HD, is now on sale in Europe. Like HTC's current HTC One X international flagship, the Optimus 4X HD runs Nvidia's 1.5 GHz quad-core Tegra 3 processor. German customers will be the first to get their hands on it, followed by the Netherlands, Sweden, United Kingdom and Italy with more countries across the globe to follow.

The LG Optimus 4X HD centers on a 4.7-inch True HD IPS display with a 1280x720 resolution (313ppi). It incorporates an eight-megapixel camera on the rear and a 1.3-megpixel camera on the front. 16GB of internal storage is the standard configuration (with no microSD slot) all encapsulated in an 8.9mm (0.35-inchs) thin case. It supports DLNA media sharing and MHL video output over its USB port.

Although the Optimus 2X made it to the US on T-Mobile, it experienced some glitches early on putting its US arrival in some doubt. Further, the version on sale in Europe does not support LTE, making it even less likely that it will make to the US in its present form, particularly with US carriers chasing 4G-capable devices.
