Facebook officially launches App Center

Over 600 titles listed so far

Following shortly after a leak, Facebook has officially launched its long-awaited App Center. The portal is mainly meant to guide people to Facebook-connected iOS and Android apps -- though web apps are highlighted as well -- and currently lists over 600 titles. "Send to Mobile" buttons are featured on app pages, the Center redirects people to the App Store or Google Play as necessary.

The App Center can be accessed via the web or the native iOS and Android Facebook apps. As expected it groups apps into several different categories, such as Games, News, and Travel & Local. A small number of apps are promoted by Facebook; the Center will also generate lists of recommended apps, and highlight apps used by friends.
