Droid RAZR HD spotted bearing Verizon branding

updated 06:13 pm EDT, Fri June 8, 2012

Arrival date said to be a few months off

Images of the Motorola Droid RAZR HD have popped up online, and it appears that the device will land at Verizon upon its release. The images obtained by Droid Life show the wrap-around Kevlar weave on the RAZR HD's back side emblazoned with the Verizon logo. The leaked images also appear to show some modifications to the RAZR's profile, making for a slimmer device with fewer protuberances.

The images show the RAZR HD with its likely 13-megapixel camera centered in the middle of its back side. The phone is said to have on-screen navigation keys instead of hardware keys, and is thought to be powered by a Qualcomm 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4. The RAZR HD also sports micro HDMI and USB ports.

The "bump" common to most RAZR handsets appears to have been done away with due to Motorola's use of a 3300mAh battery. The resulting handset is almost wedge-shaped, with the top half thicker than the bottom. The new battery is said to result in better power management, which will likely be compounded by the use of a Snapdragon processor.

Rumors about the RAZR HD have circulated since photo metadata, discovered in April, suggested that the phone existed. The RAZR HD had previously been spotted in China, where it was expected to arrive on April 4, though the rumored launch never came to fruition. It is expected to run Android 4.0 upon its release, though neither Verizon nor the source that leaked today's images has given any concrete information on when customers can expect the phone.
