updated 06:26 pm EDT, Thu June 7, 2012

International Olympic Committee to run 10 live feeds of games

YouTube will be streaming the London 2012 Olympic Games to countries in Asia and Africa. The International Olympic Committee's (IOC) YouTube channel will be streaming various live feeds from the games, allowing potential viewers the chance to see the events in countries where it may not normally be broadcast. The countries list, including 42 Sub-Saharan African territories, was made public yesterday on the official Olympic website.

The YouTube live streaming service will be made up of 10 feeds from the games from 9am until 11pm GMT, along with a 24-hour Olympic News Channel featuring highlights and reports on event results. In total, the IOC aims to offer over 2,200 hours of sporting event coverage from London 2012, including all the medals finals.

Last April, Google made the YouTube Live service a permanent fixture, using it to stream live the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
