Gaming mouse works for southpaws

While wandering around the E3 show floor, Electronista stopped by Razer's booth to handle the company's new Taipan gaming mouse. The new offering features an ambidextrous build, equally comfortable and usable for southpaws and righties alike.

The Taipan is not covered in a thousand buttons, but it does offer a range of mappable buttons alongside the clickable scroll-wheel that illuminates with a calming green glow. Maintaining ambidextrousness, all buttons are mirrored on the left and right side of the housing.

Although it may look like any other mouse from the outside, the Taipan's under-the-hood features are geared specifically for performance. We can vouch for the dual 8200dpi sensors, which prevented the cursor from moving out of position when we lifted the mouse off the table.

We found the new mouse to be comfortable and well balanced, with a grippy texture and enough concave space around the sides for a solid hold. Performance appears to be lightning fast, while Razer's cloud-based Synapse 2.0 technology enables any custom settings to be programmed once and automatically maintained if the user switched to a different computer.

The Taipan is not the cheapest gaming mouse, carrying an $80 price tag, however we believe the device offers a great combination of features without any over-the-top fluff.
