Mophie Juice Pack Pro rugged iPhone 4 case unveiled

150 percent of stock battery life, MILSPEC tested
Mophie announced its largest battery case compatible with the iPhone 4 and 4S -- the Juice Pack Pro. The case has been tested against military specification MIL-STD 810G, and boasts a 2,500 mAh capacity lithium-ion polymer battery. The polycarbonate and silicone case increases the dimensions of the iPhone to 5.26 inches long, 2.78 inches wide, and 1.02 inches thick -- more than three times as thick as a stock iPhone 4. All models of iPhone 4 and 4S on any carrier are compatible with the case.
The MIL-STD 810G testing is a standardized suite of tests verifying that a product will survive expected battlefield conditions. The specification tests for water resistance (not waterproofing), vibration tolerance, shock protection, and grit exclusion.
The 2,500 mAh battery provides 150 percent of the normal battery charge for the iphone, and is the largest capacity case that Mophie offers. The battery is rated for 500 full charge/discharge cycles -- partial charges do not count as a full cycle, so "topping off" the battery doesn't shorten battery endurance.
Additional features of the case include a pass-through mini-USB cable so the phone does not have to be extracted from the case for charging or synchronization. The exterior of the case also has passthrough home, volume, and on/off buttons. A standby/charging switch gives the user control over when to engage the extra power. A four-LED status indicator informs the user of how much power remains in the extra pack.
The iPhone 4 and 4S compatible case is available now for $130 at Mophie's online store and other retailers. Mophie offers other cases for the iPhone 4, such as the Juice Pack Plus. The iPod touch isn't compatible with this case, but the Juice Pack Air is.
