Sony's first ultrabook due in June from $770

The Sony Vaio T13, is set to arrive in North America this month starting from $770. Although Sony claims that its Vaio Z series has 'long exceeded ultrabook specifications,' the T13 is the first Sony notebook to officially carry the ultrabook tag. Despite suggestions that they T13 would arrive with older 2nd-generation Core series processors, Sony has confirmed that they will instead be packing Intel's latest 3rd-generation Core series 'Ivy Bridge' chips.

The entry-level Vaio T13 will be powered by a Core i5-3317U processor clocked at 1.70 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 2.60 GHz, as well as 4GB of RAM coupled with a 500GB hard drive for storage and a 32GB SSD boot drive. The top of the line model will come with a Core i7-3517U processor 1.90 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 3 GHz and a single 256GB SSD. Both center on a standard 1366x768 resolution 13.3-inch LCD display.

Hard drives come in either SSD or hybrid SSD/HDD combos. As one of the heavier ultrabooks in its class at 3.5-pounds, Sony has managed to shoehorn in a wider range of ports with USB 3.0, USB 2.0, HDMI, Ethernet and VGA ports all available. An SD card slot is also included for additional connectivity.
