ASUS, BlueStacks to bring many Android apps to PCs

updated 05:20 pm EDT, Mon June 4, 2012

Popular Android apps coming to Asus PCs worldwide

ASUS has announced a partnership with BlueStacks, maker of "App Player for PC" software, in order to bring Android app capabilities to 30 million ASUS PCs worldwide. The partnership will bring games and social, news, shopping, business, music, and educational apps to touch and non-touch ASUS PCs, including ZenBooks, notebooks, Eee PCs, desktop PCs and all-in-one PCs.

BlueStacks' emulator technology enables more than 450,000 Android apps to run on Windows PCs. In combination with ASUS' @vibe platform, these apps will now be available across ASUS' PC offerings.

Users of @vibe will have six months free access to BlueStacks' app catalog, after which they can upgrade to unlimited apps and app syncing, though pricing for this service is yet to be revealed. ASUS is a player in both the PC and tablet sectors, offering Windows-powered models such as the Zenbook and a soon-arriving seven-inch Nexus tablet made in collaboration with Google.
