Creative announces new Bluetooth speaker range
Creative has taken the covers off its new range of Sound BlasterAxx Bluetooth wireless speakers with built-in mics for making calls. The three speaker line-up is comprised of the SBX 20, SBX 10 and the (tethered) SBX 8, with all powered by Creative’s own SB-Axx1 advanced audio effects processor. The speakers will stream music from Android and iOS devices using a free companion app over distances of up to 33 feet, as the video embedded below shows.
In addition to streaming music to the speakers, users can make Skype calls over the speaker, with the ability to talk from any part of a typically sized room. To keep chats clearly audible, Creative has employed several technologies including acoustic echo cancellation, noise reduction and voice focus that enhances a speakers voice in noisy environments. For fun during parties, the audio processor can also add voice effects in real time, while it will also enable voice-controlled playback over connected devices.
The Sound BlasterAxx speakers also use Creative’s new patent-pending ‘stacked stereo’ speaker design, with two-speaker drivers angled to provide stereo separation even though the device is designed to stand vertically. This is supplemented with SBX Pro Studio surround sound tech. The devices can also be powered by USB as the circuits are designed to cope with low power inputs.
The SBX 8 and SBX 10 will be available in the third quarter with North American pricing to be confirmed closer to launch.

Controls...
I visited the website. The video seems to focus on those speaker-borne controls but a lot more control appears to be afforded via their PC/Mac/iOS/Android software which boosts the idea of this being an untethered product. They should stress that in their video rather than wasting time trying to sell us "Stan".
