Seventh graders publish North FL field guide on iBookstore

The seventh graders of Woodlawn Beach Middle School's Advanced Life Science students have published an interactive field guide of Northwest Florida called Creatures, Plants, and More! (free). "I wanted to give them the opportunity to be published so they could use this as part of their academic resume, and to make what they learn have real meaning," said Andrea Santilli, the students' teacher. The students are the first seventh grade students to publish an interactive e-book using iBooks Author.

Pulp newsreader upgraded to 1.5, adds iCloud support

Acrylic software's iPad newsreader Pulp ($3) has received an upgrade to version 1.5. The new version introduces a home page that constantly evaluates a user's feed to summarize the most relevant stories on one page. Pulp's native feed-synchronization feature has now been replaced with an iCloud-based sync, allowing for integration between devices that share the same iCloud account.

Minecraft sells 6 million copies

Notch, creator of Minecraft, announced on Twitter that Mojang has sold over six million copies of Minecraft in 15 months. The Financial Times examined the indie publisher's finances, and found that in the same time period, the company had made $13.5 million in profit. An Xbox Live version has recently been released of the construction and resource gathering title. Three titles, including Minecraft, are under active development.
