New moderation toolbar, speed for iPad
WordPress developer Automattic has updated its iOS WordPress app to version 3.0 (free), bringing support for push notifications as well as a moderation toolbar for comments activated by swiping over any item. The update is said to "vastly" improve performance, particularly on iPads, and language support for Taiwanese, Hungarian and Polish has been added. The app helps users administer both WordPress.com and their own hosted WP blogs.
The company is also promising a forthcoming 3.1 update next month that will add features such as sliding panels, additional iPad stats, post formats and a slide-out iPhone or iPod Touch menu. The new push notifications will let admins know when a new post has been added, while the swipe-to-moderate toolbar will make it easy for users to deal with comments while on the go, without needed to use bulk moderation or go to the comment's permalink.
WordPress says the new version also squashes 44 separate bugs and crash issues in the new release. The company is openly soliciting for new iOS contributors and has recently shifted more emphasis to its mobile app.
