Apple updates digital camera RAW for iPhoto '11, Aperture 3

updated 05:46 pm EDT, Tue May 22, 2012

Adds six new support camera models

Apple late today has issued Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 3.13, adding support for six new and recent camera models now on the market. The new update adds support for models from Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic and Sony. Still missing from the list of supported cameras (among other models) is the Fujifilm X-S1, a high-end "superzoom" camera we reviewed in late March. The new update requires OS X 10.6.8 or later.

The specific cameras now supported in the update including the Canon EOS-1D X; the Nikon D800E and the D3200; the Olympus OM-D E-M5; the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF5, and the Sony Alpha SLT-A57. The update is 8MB in size and is available through Software Update for iPhoto '11 and Aperture 3 owners, or it can be downloaded directly from Apple's support downloads page. A full list of all supported digital cameras with RAW capability can be found here.
