New Wii U controller design appears

updated 05:53 pm EDT, Sun May 20, 2012

Nintendo may have improved tablet controller's ergonomics

Nintendo may have slightly redesigned the tablet-like controller for its forthcoming Wii U console. A photo of a more ergonomically-designed controller appeared briefly on the Twitter feed of a developer, before vanishing shortly thereafter. The Wii U is expected to be showcased in full at this year's E3 being held early next month in Los Angeles, and likely will be released either over the summer or in the fall.

The photo shows largely the same controller as Nintendo previously showed off at the console's unveiling last year, except the new version adds proper analog sticks instead of the nub-style analog controllers featured on the original model. The tablet is also wider, allowing for more space around the D-pad and buttons.

The run-up to the console's release has seen a range of news emerging about its capabilities. In April, a number of developers claimed that the device lacked the graphical capabilities of the PS3 and Xbox 360. Subsequent software trailers have hinted at NFC capabilities for the console, and a leak from Blockbuster UK in May seemingly revealed the launch list of software for the console's debut.

    Wii U release

I think the latest version is now more better compared to last year's version. They had innovated the controls and as well as the program. It is now a lot much better.
