NTT DoCoMo brings Galaxy S III to their network

Japan's NTT DoCoMo has revealed its summer lineup of releases including 16 Android 4.0 smartphones, a tablet, a mobile phone for children and a mobile Wi-Fi router. The announcement comes at the same time as plans for the company's Dmarket content to be expanded to offer anime videos and music on a flat-rate basis for smartphones and tablets.

Of all the devices, 11 handsets and the router will work on the company's 'Xi' LTE network, several phones and a tablet are compatible with the NOTTV broadcasting service, and six will use the Twonky Beam app for receiving recorded digital terrestrial content. Notable additions to the list launching from June include the Samsung Galaxy S III, LG Optimus Vu, and the water- and dust-proof Kid's Phone HW-01D.

The anime store on Dmarket, due to launch in July, claims to be Japan's largest flat-rate anime distribution service. Charging 420 yen ($5 USD) per month, the service provides access to 10,000 episodes of 500 anime titles, with extra content such as celebrity fan interviews also made available to watch. For 315 yen ($4 USD) per month, the music store will offer unlimited streaming via eight channels, totalling 50 programs and 2,000 songs. Both stores will require an Android 2.3 or higher with DRM support.
