Manufacturer pushes back against 'iTV' leak accusations

Foxconn is disavowing suggestions that chairman Terry Gou leaked news of an Apple TV set, writes The Next Web. Last week, Foxconn chairman Terry Gou was believed to have confirmed the existence of an Apple-branded TV. The executive was misquoted, Foxconn now says, and the company can neither confirm nor speculate about any such hardware.

Gou, in the course of an inaugural speech at a new headquarters, was said to have stated that the company was making preparations for an impending Apple TV. Various rumors have anticipated features like Siri and FaceTime video calls. The statements were repeated by China Daily, and quickly caught hold with the rest of the tech news sector as ostensible confirmation of the long-rumored product.

Now, though, Foxconn elaborates that Gou "made it very clear that the would neither confirm nor speculate about Foxconn's involvement in the production of any product," and that at no time did Gou "confirm that Foxconn was in development or manufacturing stages" for an Apple TV. Gou's statements, Foxconn maintains, are more an affirmation of Foxconn's readiness to meet the manufacturing needs of customers; not so much that the company is preparing to make an Apple TV, but that it is prepared to make one, should Apple approach.

The Apple TV set has been the center of any number of claims. Some have revolved around its features, or an acquisition of TV maker Loewe.

    Glad to know that Gou...

is not the idiot many of us first perceived. You DON'T bite the hand that feeds you... well, some do. Apple fires them. Or... used to.

If Jobs was still around they would not be able to do any business with Apple after this.
