Sprint outs Tri-Fi hotspot

Sprint and Sierra Wireless have announced the availability of the first mobile router to combine LTE and WiMAX 4G connections alongside 3G connectivity. The Sierra Wireless 4G LTE Tri-Fi Hotspot will connect to Sprint's 4G network and will become available to customers starting May 18.

The Tri-Fi hotspot will connect to up to eight Wi-Fi enabled devices, and packs a microSD slot enabling file sharing among devices. The device also functions as a digital media server. The device gets up to eight hours of use on a 3600mAh battery, as well as up to eight weeks of standby. The Tri-Fi Hotspot will retail for $100 after a $50 mail-in-rebate with a two-year service commitment.

Pebble watch sells out

The Pebble 'smartwatch' appears to be one of the biggest things in crowd-sourced funding as of late, raising $100,000 in funding in the first two hours after being listed on Kickstarter and more than $3 million in the week following. Now the Android and iOS-connected smartwatch has topped $10 million and the first run of the watch is sold out. The Kickstarter page for the Pebble has all donation levels from $99 and up listed as completely sold out. People can still donate if they wish, but donors will no longer have the guarantee of receiving a Pebble watch upon its release.

Allerta, the company behind the watch, promised those who donated $115 a basic Pebble watch, with quantities increasing commensurate with donation size. Pricing once the watch is no longer offered on Kickstarter is yet to be revealed.
