Sony Mobile has announced its first LTE handsets powered by Qualcomm's fast Krait-based Snapdragon S4 dual-core processors. Capable of download speeds up to 75mbps, the Xperia GX and SX will also be the first Sony Xperia handsets to launch with Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) out of the box. It will be available in a 16GB capacity, and in both black and white versions.

The Xperia SX centers on a 3.7-inch Reality Display with a Mobile Bravia Engine and incorporates 8GB of internal storage. It uses Sony's eight-megapixel Exmor R sensor and is also capabile of shooting video in 720p and take faux-3D panoramic shots. The handset will also has Japanese market-centric features including an infrared data port, mobile wallet and mobile TV. The Xperia SX will also come in black and white colors.

Both of the new Xperia smartphones will also launch with three new Sony mobile apps. The new Walkman app integrates Sony's audio enhancement tech including clear stereo, clear bass, VPT surround sound, manual equalizer and XLoud for increased volume through their external speakers. The new Album app brings social photo sharing and organizing capabilities, while the new Movies app offers a new streamlined video player with intelligent database search offering users the opportunity to find out more about a movie.

The Xperia GX and SX are both headed for Sony's home market of Japan for the summer. Of the two, the GX is most likely to also to appear in various guises on international markets following its Japanese launch.
