HP launches new AIO printer with mobile printing, apps

updated 02:03 am EDT, Wed May 9, 2012

Four-color unit comes with Coupons.com offers

In a flurry of product announcements from Shanghai, HP introduced one new All-in-One (AIO) printer, a replacement for the current 5510 called the 5520 that addresses all the significant omissions of the previous model, mainly the duplexing and layout support. The 5520 e-All-in-One features a new automatic duplexer for easy two-sided support, along with options for booklet and multi-page printing. Wireless mobile printing is also supported.

Using the HP ePrint app for iOS or Android, users can send files to the printer remotely or locally. The printer also features print "apps" from DreamWorks and Coupons.com. It comes with an 80-sheet tray but no automatic document feeder, and like the earlier model comes with an LCD touchscreen for management, and SD and Memory Stick readers for direct photo printing.

The unit is expected to arrive in the US next month and should retail for around $100 street price, $129 retail. The four-color unit should be plug-and-play on all modern Macs and Windows systems.
