Lenovo ThinkCentre M90z, M70z recall expanded to 188,000

Fire hazard forces increase in recalled Lenovo ThinkCentre computers

Lenovo's earlier recall of its ThinkCentre M90z and ThinkCentre M70z all-in-one desktop computers has been expanded to include more units. The voluntary recall -- involving both the manufacturer and the US Consumer Product Safety Commission -- now has a higher number of affected machines, up from 50,500 to 188,000.

The recall in March of this year concerned a possible fire hazard from an overheating internal power supply component, based on two reports of the fault causing smoke or fire.

Customers are being offered a free power supply replacement, with Lenovo supplying an online tool to check serial numbers against an affected list. Customers who previously screened their hardware are being urged to recheck, as their computers may still be in trouble.
