Lumia exclusivity deals range up to a year

Nokia is continuing its push to differentiate its Lumia line of handsets from other manufacturers' Windows Phone offerings, announcing today a range of partnerships with various app makers that will see the Lumia get timed exclusives for several apps. The deals mean that apps like Groupon, AOL Entertainment Hub, and others will, for a limited time after launch, hit the Lumia before coming to any other Windows Phone handsets.

Today's announcement highlighted the PGA Tour app, ESPN Hub, and Groupon, among others. The PGA Tour app will be a Lumia exclusive for 12 months after launch, while the ESPN Hub app is a Lumia exclusive until May 2013, and Groupon will be exclusive for six months after its launch. Tripdots, an app allowing users to optimize driving behaviors in order to improve fuel economy, will be exclusive to the Lumia line for three months after launch. AOL Entertainment Hub, a six-month exclusive, aggregates film, television, radio, and concert content for users to browse on their devices.

The Lumia 900, Nokia's flagship Windows Phone, has received positive reviews since its launch earlier this year, including high praise for both the phone and its operating system from Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak. Upon launch, the phone received a sizable marketing push from AT&T, which contributed to the phone's initially high sales. [via Mobile Burn]
