Triggertrap app, cable adds remote control to digital cams

updated 07:00 pm EDT, Mon April 30, 2012

Triggertrap intros $10 cable, $10 app for control

TriggerTrap has just unveiled a new app ($10, App Store) and $10 cable that connects to one of over 270 digital cameras and allows remote control and full control over the camera. This can be especially useful for DSLRs, where it allows full-fledged access to all standard and more features, eliminating the factory remotes. Any iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch running on iOS 5 can be used with the app.

Multiple triggers for the shutter can then be set based on the iOS device, including motion-sensing, GPS location, facial recognition, shock-sensing, and more. Control over the focus and flash is also provided. The Cable Release mode has a Bulb mode that lets users control the shutter manually, by pressing the button once to open it and again to close it.

The app can be used with the iOS device's built-in camera, and a free version is also available with a limited number of features.
