Tweetbot 2.3 bings new conversation views, other changes

updated 12:50 pm EDT, Mon April 30, 2012

Makes numerous interface improvements

Tapbots has released a new version of Tweetbot, its popular iOS Twitter client. The v2.3 update concentrates on conversations; a new Detail view shows inline conversations and replies, and gestures make it possible to both jump to this view and quickly return to the timeline. Conversations can be emailed, or alternately linked via Storify.

Other changes are comparatively minor, but still significant. The app is now available in Arabic for instance, and support for Droplr filesharing has been added. Higher-resolution image uploads are allowed on Wi-Fi, and the tweet drawer has been reorganized. Elsewhere, tapping and holding the Compose button will open the last draft, and $stock links are recognized. Video thumbnails are newly identified with a "play" icon, and will preview content from Vimeo in addition to other sites.

Tweetbot costs $3, and requires iOS 4.1 or later. The app still lacks a dedicated iPad interface.

No dedicated iPad version? You sure about that?

To quote from the article: "The app still lacks a dedicated iPad interface."

Tweetbot for iPhone might not be a universal app, but Tapbot does sell an iPad version separately (which was also updated to 2.3 today): http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/tweetbot-twitter-client-personality/id498801050?mt=8

When posting a statement as fact... make sure it is actually a fact. ;-)

Which is why the AppStore is such a POS the way it is. You got a bunch of 'universal' apps that you can buy once and use on multiple devices, and not have to think about it. But then you've got others where you need to go searching for an iPad or iPhone specific version (which also means - no shared data!). That's just plain stupid and user-unfriendly.
