Velocity Micro launches new desktops with Intel Ivy Bridge

Velocity Micro pushes out Ivy Bridge desktops

Velocity Micro has lifted the lid on its revamped desktop line powered by Intel's 3rd generation Core processors. The new processors are available on selected models from each of its gaming, home and office as well as workstation systems. Models in line for the new Intel chips include the Raptor Z90, the Vector Z20 and the Edge Z40.

The entry-level Vector Z20 starts at $849 and offers an aluminum case with side window, a 700 Watt power supply and an Intel Pentium processor as standard. An upgrade to an Ivy Bridge processor adds an additional $200 to the price at a minimum. It will also come with 4GB of DDR3 RAM that is expandable to 8GB for an extra $60. Storage starts at 500GB, but can be upgraded to a maximum 1TB for $40.

The Edge Z40 starts at $999 and uses a full-size aluminum chassis. It uses a 700 Watt power supply attached to an Asus P8Z68-V LX Intel Z68-based motherboard. Standard fitment is a second-gen Core i5-2300 quad-core processor clocked at 2.8GHz, though an upgrade to an Ivy Bridge processor starts at only $40. The standard GPU is an NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 with 1GB of VRAM. Storage starts at 1TB, though a range of options are available.

The range-topping Raptor Z90 starts at $2849 and uses a full-size aluminum chassis with a removable front door and side window. It utilizes an 850 Watt power supply and uses an Asus P8Z77 Intel Z77-based chipset with ATX motherboard. Standard fitment is a 3rd generation Intel Core i5 quad-core processor clocked at 3.40GHz with a 6MB cache matched with 8GB of RAM. The standard GPU is an EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 GDDR5 running though a PCI-E 2.0 controller. The Raptor also relies on a Velocity Micro with LiquiCool 6 Fluid Cooling System to keep things cool and ready for over clocking.
