WWDC 2012 tickets sell out in matter of hours

updated 11:35 am EDT, Wed April 25, 2012

Beats 2011 sales

Apple has already sold out of tickets for WWDC 2012, checks show. Even though each ticket was priced at $1,599, access closed roughly two hours after it began earlier today. The event is scheduled for June 11th through the 15th in San Francisco.

The speed of the sellout surpasses even that of last year, when tickets vanished within less than 10 hours. Going to WWDC offers a number of benefits to developers; beyond offering technical help and social networking, Apple often uses the WWDC keynote to announce new products, or more details of previously hinted ones. The company will sometimes hand out prerelease software to allow developers a headstart on projects.
