AT&T selling out of cyan, white Lumia 900, magenta leaks out

Nokia hints strong Lumia 900 demand and pink

Nokia's emphasis on color for the Lumia 900 may be driving strong sales at the company along with leading to more colors. Both online checks at AT&T and new verifications by CNET on the retail situation have confirmed that, while all examples were in high demand, the cyan and new white versions were "especially difficult to find," according to an AT&T spokesperson. Shipments were going out daily, but AT&T couldn't say when it would have consistent supply.

Simultaneously, Nokia's Demo the Lumia page on Facebook has briefly spoiled plans for a fourth color, magenta. As caught by WMPowerUser, the color was an option alongside the existing three. The web app has since reverted back with no explanation.

It's unknown if the hue will reach North America, and it could be limited to the HSPA+ international versions of the Lumia 900 rather than the LTE models on AT&T and Rogers. The popularity doesn't guarantee interest in magent, but may help the color's chances if and when it arrives.

Overall, having strong demand more than two weeks afterwards may be a strong sign for Nokia, which is bleeding cash as its international sales struggle. Its winter quarter didn't have the Lumia 900 to sell and, without strong sales elsewhere, saw Symbian sales dying faster than Windows Phone sales could pick up.
