T-Mobile tries to woo iPhone users with $200 bounty

updated 10:20 pm EDT, Tue April 24, 2012

$200 given for any iPhone, $50 for any phone

During the "Magenta Deal Days", T-Mobile will give customers $200 for their iPhone, $100 for an Android-powered phone, and $50 for any other brand of mobile phone, assuming it still works. All trade-in offers are contingent on signing a two-year agreement and purchasing a new 4G smartphone on the T-Mobile network. T-Mobile does not sell iPhones.

T-Mobile's USA senior vice president of marketing John Clelland said that no matter the age of the phone, no matter the value, T-Mobile offers the guaranteed trade in value to facilitate signing a contract with T-Mobile. It is not known what T-Mobile intends to do with the traded-in devices.

The Magenta Deal Days offer starts on April 25 and continues through May 8.

They Don't Even Sell It ...

... but they'll pay you twice what they'll give you for one they do.

    I wonder

if they'll buy this POS G2X that they screwed me (and others) on last year. Should have known not to buy anything made by LG.

    Wrong headed

This is wrong-headed policy. T-Mobile needs to be attracting iPhone users with special 'just for them' benefits to make up for the hassle of unlocking not buying their iPhone off them and sticking them with something less appealing.
