LG launches second-gen 3D smartphone in Europe

LG has rolled out its second-generation 3D smartphone, the Optimus 3D Max in Europe. First revealed at Mobile World Congress, the revised 3D smartphone runs a mildly faster 1.2GHz TI OMAP dual-core processor and now includes support for 3D movie editing. The Optimus 3D Max will also convert 2D games into 3D, as well as Google Earth and other mapping apps.

The Optimus Max is also 2mm slimmer than its predecessor and sports a 4.3-inch 3D WVGA display with Corning Gorilla Glass 2 for added strength and scratch resistance. A relatively small 8GB of internal storage is offered, although the device supports microSD expansion.

On the rear is a pair of stereoscopic 3D cameras with a 5-megapixel resolution. This is joined by a single VGA front-facing camera. Connectivity includes HSPA+ with support for up to 21Mbps. As with LG's latest smartphones, the device is equipped with NFC and will work with LG's new Tag+ NFC-equipped tags for fast switching device settings.
