iHome SmartDesign docks cater to Android phones

iHome outs Android-centric SmartDesign range

Cellphone accessories maker iHome has just launched a new SmartDesign line with Android smartphone owners in mind. The first products announced on Wednesday include the iC50, iC3, and upcoming iC16. All can accommodate Android phones and other USB-powered devices, though the accompanying apps will only work with Android phones.

The iC50 is a small alarm clock radio dock that has an integrated FM tuner. Its dock is adjustable to accommodate phones of various sizes, although it works best with phones with a centered micro USB port on the bottom. The iHome app will let users fall asleep and wake up to the music stored on their handset. The iC50 is now shipping, priced at $60.

The iC3 portable stand has a stereo speaker and charges Android phones and tablets. It's also compatible with the iHome Sleep app and will charge phones thanks to an integrated USB port and included cable. It can work on four AA batteries for portable use. It retails for $40.

The iC16, due out later this summer, is an alarm clock stereo speaker. It is said to be the most portable and also sport four AA battery slots, though technical specs are thin. It will cost $60 when it arrives.

All three new products will have 3.5mm inputs and include a cable.
