All Q.Bo orders scheduled to ship in Fall

As previously reported, developer The Corpora has commenced pre-orders of its open source robot. Ten individual items are available for pre-order, including three models of complete robots either assembled or ready-for-assembly, along with seven individual components available separately for the hobbyist. All orders are expected to ship in the fourth quarter of 2012.

A preorder of the basic ready-for-assembly kit costs 499 ($655) and requires the user to provide their own Mini-ITX motherboard and processor. The Complete Lite kit, assembled with D2700MUD Intel Atom motherboard and processor combination runs 1,699 ($2229). Rounding out the models is the Complete Pro kit, with a DQ67EP Mini-ITX motherboard and Intel i3-2100T processor tipping the scales at 2,299 ($3016). All orders are expected to ship in the fourth quarter of 2012.

The Corpora was founded in 2008 by Francisco and Carlos Paz with the intent of launching the project and building an open source community around the robot. The development of a standard reference platform for the is intended to lead to more focused and cooperative development rather than a fragmented or closed robotics development community.
