HTC One X for AT&T rumored shipping next week

updated 12:55 pm EDT, Mon April 16, 2012

HTC One X may get quick turnaround

The AT&T version of the HTC One X may get its final release window very soon. Rumors emerging from BGR have an announcement due as soon as Tuesday, with shipping coming "within five to seven days" of that date. Pricing itself wasn't given out, but it's expected to come in at $250 to $300 given AT&T's past 4G phone pricing.

The One X on the American carrier should be externally similar to the international version we tried in Barcelona, but inside has to replace the quad-core Tegra 3 for a dual-core Snapdragon S4, which gives it 4G LTE built into the main chipset. The design is still expected to be quick and may be one of the first LTE smartphones to get reasonable runtime without needing an extra-large battery.

A launch at the time would partly head off the Sprint version of the Galaxy Nexus by offering a comparable 4G-equipped, Android 4.0-based smartphone in a similar timeframe. AT&T will have a temporary advantage as its LTE is already active where Sprint's is still several weeks away.
