Apple denies product with Starck, yacht more likely instead

Apple says no core products made with Starck

Apple in a more direct response publicly shot down Philip Starck's assertions that he was working with Apple on a product. A spokeswoman told AllThingsD that Apple wasn't working with any core products. The representative wouldn't guess on what Starck had meant.

The answer may ultimately be a yacht. An excerpt from Steve Jobs' biography mentioned that the late Apple co-founder was working with Starck on co-designing a special ship after not being satisfied with Dutch boatmaker Feadship's preconceived ships. As caught by Cult of Mac, it would be a 40-foot example with glass walls.

A yacht would help make more sense of Starck's commentary, although not entirely. It would explain why he would keep visiting with Jobs' widow Laurene beyond just social connections, as the yacht would pass on to Laurene. Mentions of Apple and maintaining secrecy are unusual, however, as the company wouldn't have any need for or direct interest in a pleasure boat.

Apple previously granted Jobs a private jet, but it was used for corporate purposes.

If he says he's working with Apple, then it isn't a ship for steve jobs. Unless Apple's paying for the ship.

Feadships are indeed quite conservative looking

And although fit for the average gazilionaire,
do not stand out as much as the "A",
Stark's yacht design for the Russian tycoon Andrey Melnichenko.

The first successful Mac design (not the Lisa) was cute and quite minimalist,
on some "formal" computer journals it was even made fun of,
having the monitor completely integrated with the CPU...

Same was said of the MYA's superstructure by Stark,
its way too minimalist but cute seldom used to describe it.
The "A" yet it is still made fun off, with comments like it must sail faster underwater, or that it belongs on an evil genius navy...

But just like most Apple designed objects it becomes an Icon in itself,
and whilst most mega yachts look relatively similar,
only the "A" stays in your memory.

Melnichenko and Jobs shared extraordinary career success even if many argue about their methods, so it's only sensible they felt just as passionate for avant garde design, even if most contemporary observers misunderstood the elegance of their design decisions.

Hope the ship is way larger than 40ft, the MYA is over ten times that and SJ can certainly afford as large a canvas for Philippe Starck to play with.

    Zikmu audio...

...speakers come to mind - I can imagine a pretty slick 3d home theatre system design being the sequel...
