Sony Xperia Sola reaches FCC with US-ready 3G

updated 05:45 pm EDT, Wed April 11, 2012

Xperia Sola cleared for use in the US

The Sony Xperia Sola has been approved by the FCC in a filing published today, with AT&T-specific 3G in tow. Sola is an Android smartphone with "floating touch technology," a proximity sensor which allows for touchscreen control by hovering your fingers above the 3.7-inch display.

The FCC filing confirms the device, previously seen as the Sony Ericsson Pepper, is usable on AT&T's 3G (850MHz and 1,900MHz) along with most Canadian carriers. It packs Android 2.3 Gingerbread, is 4.0-ready, and carries NFC, 3D sound, 8GB of internal memory, and a 5-megapixel rear camera that all come powered by a dual-core 1GHz ST-Ericsson U8500 processor.
