HTC One X and Xperia S get Canadian dates

Canadian carrier Rogers has dates both official and semi-official for two of its highest-end Android smartphones for the spring. A leak to MobileSyrup of internal Rogers info has put the HTC One X release date as April 20. The provider had already confirmed that its version, which has the same 4G LTE and Snapdragon S4 as the future AT&T model, should cost $170 on a three-year contract.

More publicly, Rogers and Sony have committed to releases of the Xperia S. The smartphone arrives just days ahead of the One X, on April 17, and will have the still-uncommon choice of either carrier-free or Rogers-specific versions. Sony stores' versions may be unlocked and work on the top three carriers, although it's currently mentioned as being "compatible" with Rogers. Rogers itself will have the phone in its own stores. Pricing hasn't been set for the Sony store or for no-contract customers at Rogers, although those signing up for a three-year plan on Rogers will pay $100.

Both Xperia S versions will share the 4.3-inch, 720 display, a 12-megapixel rear camera along with a front camera, a dual-core 1.5GHz chip, NFC, and 32GB of built-in storage. It ships with Android 2.3 and will get 4.0 sometime within the next few months.
