ASUS promises cloud service announcement due at Computex

updated 04:40 pm EDT, Wed April 11, 2012

ASUS to detail cloud service at Computex?

ASUS Chairman Jonney Shih recently spoke at Business Next in Taiwan about the future of computers and technology. The talk, embedded as a video below thanks to NetbookNews, included talk of the social, location, and mobile experience in future products, though it especially contained an announcement about a cloud service due from the company. Shih said ASUS will unveil its "total solution for the ubiquitous cloud computing at Computex this year."

This would involve a cloud service that would let users access all their multimedia content and documents from any of their web-connected devices, including PCs, smartphones, and tablets. From the sounds of it, the service will be the equivalent of Apple's iCloud, but for Windows-powered computers. ASUS already offers some basic cloud services pre-installed on its notebooks, such as the UX31.

The Computex Taipei show is scheduled for June 5-9.
