Systems expand AirPlay-compatible AV equipment

Yamaha has expanded its range of AirPlay-equipped equipment to include several complete home theater systems. Each system, including the range-topping YHT-897BL, integrates a connected receiver with front-panel USB ports for iOS devices and portable drives, 4K video passthrough and 3D support.

The receivers are designed to work in conjunction with Yamaha's own AV Controller app, which is available for iOS, Android and the Kindle Fire.

The YHT-897BL features a 100W subwoofer, two tower speakers, a center channel speaker, and two bookshelf speakers for the rear channels. The YHT-797BL offers five matching trapezoidal speakers and a 100W subwoofer, while the YHT-497BL brings glossy front, center and rear speakers alongside the same subwoofer.

The YHT-897BL, which is expected to arrive in May, retails for $850, while the YHT-797BL carries a $800 price tag. The YHT-497BL carries a suggested price of $480 and is expected to ship this month.
