Desire S, HD get One V firmware ported over

Thanks to the recent launch of the HTC One V and the work of one resourceful developer over at the XDA Developers forum, owners of the Desire S and Desire HD can port over the ROM from the new phone. The project is a work in progress, but most of the ROM was successfully ported over to the older handsets. The data and voice radios with the new ROM are fully functional for either phone, so users can use it daily.

What is not yet working for the Desire S is the camera, Wi-Fi hotspot, and USB tethering features. The Desire HD's list of to-dos only includes supporting the camera. The modification brings Android 4.0.3 to either handset, along with HTC's Sense 4.0A user interface.

The devoted Desire S thread contains all users need to know about making the modification, including photos, videos, instructions, and a download link. The same information can be found for the Desire HD on its page. Version 3.3 of the firmware is said to be coming in about three weeks. [via UberGizmo]
