HTC One X prototype falls in hands of eBay users

An HTC One X prototype for AT&T has been sold on eBay. The device was purchased by XDA Developersforum member @voteccow and clearly shows markings that it is not for sale and was likely used by an AT&T technician for network verification and device testing. As the device was being tested for AT&T, it is the version of the One X that carries the dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor not the international variant that ships with a quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor.

In addition to sharing a number of images of the device, @voteccow offered the XDA-Developers Forum members a look at the pre-release OS build so that it might aid in hacking efforts to root the device. The bootloader currently installed on the device is locked.

The HTC One X has generally been well-received by critics who have lauded its display and its general performance when running the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, which has been shown to outperform the Tegra 3 in some benchmarks despite running only two cores against the quad-core NVIDIA processor. Other highlights include its unibody polycarbonate body and high-resolution 4.7-inch 720p S-LCD display.
