Galaxy Nexus users face signal woes after Android 4.0.4

Problem affecting GSM phones only

Samsung Galaxy Nexus owners are having problems with their phones after updating them to the latest Android 4.0 release. Users are complaining about signal strength problems or loss of signal since installing version 4.0.4, which Google began rolling out as an over-the-air upgrade last Wednesday. The problem appears to affect only phones with GSM radios.

Users began reporting issues on Sunday. The phone appears to be most susceptible when the device is in standby, at which time it either loses signal altogether or cycles in and out of getting reception. The problem has a collateral effect of draining the battery.

Google acknowledges the situation and has asked for owners to submit a bug report to help with isolating the problem and developing a work-around or patch. Galaxy Nexus phones running on the Verizon CDMA network, and presumably the upcoming Sprint network, don't seem to be experiencing any signal problems with the upgrade. [via Android Community]
