Samsung Galaxy S Aviator with LTE ships to US Cellular

updated 03:35 pm EDT, Thu April 5, 2012

Galaxy S Aviator now at US Cellular for $200

As promised two months ago, US Cellular has started shipping its first LTE smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S Aviator. The handset sports a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus touchscreen and is preloaded with Android 2.3.6 onboard. More importantly, however, it can access the carrier's 4G LTE network, offering significantly higher speeds than 3G networks.

Known as the Droid Charge over at Verizon, the handset also has an HDMI output for connecting the phone to HDTVs.

The phone costs $200 on a two-year contract and after a mail-in rebate, though some cities where LTE is offered will price it at $100 after the same rebate. US Cellular's LTE service is live in regions of Iowa, Maine, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, and Wisconsin, with more states due to come before the end of 2012. The required plans range from $40 to $110 per month ones. The former includes 450 minutes and nothing else included, while the latter offers unlimited voice and messaging as well as 5GB of monthly data.

Late in March, US Cellular added the 4G-capable Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 LTE to its offerings, marking it as the first LTE-capable device at the carrier.
