Swiftkey gets functional revamp, inserts spaces

Swiftkey, makers of the Swiftkey X virtual keyboard app ($4, Google Play) for Android devices, has been busy working on a fresh update for the software. In an interview with Pocket-Lint, Swiftkey CTO Ben Medlock outlined the changes of Swiftkey 3. The biggest difference is that the app will automatically insert space bars in-between multiple words in addition to correcting misspelled words. The app has the ability to correct three words back as its algorithms figure out what the user means as she types.

Otherwise, the refreshed look includes a larger space bar, even though it's supposed to be used less thanks to the new functionality. There is otherwise a smart punctuation button that lets users hold and slide across to the desired character. Also integrated is an exploded list of options for emoticons.

The release date of Swiftkey 3 hasn't been released, though a VIP testing phase will begin first. Those who sign up can use it for two months for free before being asked to buy it.
