Samsung GS III rumored with 4.65 720p Super AMOLED Plus

Samsung GS III could feature AMOLED Plus display

The latest rumor to surface about the eagerly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S III is that it will be the recipient of a large 4.65-inch 720p Super AMOLED Plus display. If true, this would trump the similar sized display in its Galaxy Nexus by adopting a true RGB pixel arrangement instead of a PenTile array. This approach will also result in a higher pixel density, putting in the Retina display class above 300ppi on a smartphone at 316ppi.

Previous rumors have suggested that the device may also be the first smartphone with an LTE-based radio built into the processor. The SoC would be Samsung's latest Exynos processor, which is also expected to shift to quad-core up from the dual-core processor in the Galaxy S II. The quad-core processor would also be clocked at 1.5GHz and matched with 1GB of RAM.

Other leaks suggest that it will run Android 4.0 with a TouchWiz overlay. It could also be made of ceramic and remain very slim in its profile. Various rumors have the device pegged for a May launch and that it could bow at the CTIA spring show in New Orleans. [via The Verge]

This the first thought that comes out whenever this company is mentioned: Samsung = lack of imagination + copycat + unethical + avoid at all cost

    Spec-wise, it should offer

serious competition to the iPhone. Apple is going to have to depend on the iOS ecosystem and Apple retail store sales to outgun Samsung in smartphone unit sales.
