Roku to bring 2 XD, 2 XS to very soon

The retail launch of Roku hardware in Canada is nearing, GigaOM believes. This lines up with earlier rumors, and two of the Internet players are said to begin selling through Amazon's Canadian website. The devices may then reach physical store shelves later on, though which ones isn't made clear.

The 2 XD model will reportedly sell for $100 CAD (about $101) with the more capable 2 XS costing $120 (just over $121). In the US, they cost $80 and $100, respectively, directly from Roku's site. The pair is already shipping in the UK and Ireland.

Either is capable of playing back 1080p HD video files, has integrated Wi-Fi, and offers access to over 400 entertainment channels and free movies, at least in the US. The XD alone has a gamepad-like remote that supports motion control, has built-in Ethernet and USB ports, and gets Angry Birds preloaded. Also accessible is paid content from Netflix and Hulu Plus.
