Sony Xperia S faces odd yellowing screen bug, free fix

updated 03:45 pm EDT, Mon April 2, 2012

Xperia S hit with screen bug when it gets hot

Sony's Xperia S smartphone has been plagued with an issue with its screen, Crave has found. When the phone gets too warm, its screen emits a yellow tint. Sony is aware of the problem, stating that only a "limited number" of Xperia S phones are affected when they reach 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit).

Sony has already addressed the manufacturing defect that resulted in the yellowing. Those who have affected handsets are being instructed to contact the customer service for the stores where they purchased their phone, where the issue will be taken care of for free in what's likely a direct phone swap.

The Xperia S is the first product after Sony bought Ericsson's stake in the cellphone business. Its 4.3-inch, 1280x720 pixel touchscreen is otherwise lauded for its performance.

    Where's the outrage?

Oh yeah, Apple doesn't make XPeria phones. No "screengate" today, I guess.
