Google resumes pushing Android 4 to Nexus S

(Update: more devices) After halting updates in December, Google has resumed pushing the latest version of Android to Nexus S devices. Those with GSM versions, such as the AT&T and T-Mobile models as well as most any version outside of the US, are getting Android 4.0.4 as an over-the-air upgrade. Users can either wait for the update check or try to manually prompt the update if they want it faster.

Compared to the initial Android 4.0 update, Android 4.0.4 on the Nexus S improves the overall speed, including the overall responsiveness, 3D app startup, camera performance, and elements like screen rotation. Bugs with battery drain have also been resolved.

The update follows not long after Android 4.0 began reaching some of the first third-party phones, such as the Galaxy S II. Google had originally intended 4.0.3 to be the build everyone received and is pushing it out to some now, but the Nexus S rollout had problems that forced the pause on updates. Some Galaxy Nexus owners are still on 4.0.2.

It's not known when the Nexus S 4G update will be made official.

Update: Google added that HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus and Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi owners would be getting 4.0.4 soon.
