Samsung ships ambidextrous QF20 camcorder

Samsung has followed up its HMX-Q10 camcorder, the first that can be held in either hand, with the equally ambidextrous HMX-QF20. The new camera, which we had a chance to sample, has more features and better performance. The QF20 sports a Schneider lens with a 20X optical zoom and has a five-megapixel, backside-illuminated CMOS sensor.

It shoots 1080p videos and there is Wi-Fi onboard for quickly uploading to the web or a home PC. Users also get a smart BGM function that lets them add background music to their videos.

The gyroscope will flip the menus on the 2.7-inch, 230,000-pixel touchscreen upside down to allow the user to see menus properly no matter which hand the camera is held in.

The camera will cost 449,000 won (nearly $400) when it launches in Korea at an undisclosed date. A US release is also unspecified.
