Samsung elephant pitches Galaxy Note: 'bigger is better'

updated 03:10 pm EDT, Tue March 27, 2012

Samsung hires baby elephant for Galaxy Note ad

Samsung has just released a video of Peter the Elephant playing with its Galaxy Note smartphone. Meant to emphasize that "bigger is better," the video shows the phone to hardly be elephant-sized, though it does sport a larger-than-average 5.3-inch touchscreen. In the video, embedded below, Peter is seen playing with a number of apps, and even takes a photograph of what we assume is its trainer and himself thanks to his claw-like trunk.

For the skeptics, Samsung also included links to unedited versions of the video for all to view. Peter is a baby elephant who seems very talented and gets on with the phone comparatively naturally.

The ad is a marked departure from the Apple-bashing Super Bowl ad Samsung aired that featured The Darkness. The Galaxy Note and iPhone 4S hardly compete for the same buyers, as the former is not just much larger and uses a smart pen, but it's also significantly costlier, at $300 on contract.

    A fresh aproach from Samsung

    The Superbowl campaign was clearly misconceived.

    There is no need to bash the competition,
    when there is no competition.

    The Galaxy Note is unique in many ways,
    size just the most obvious,
    the built in Wacom inductive digitizer,
    the least understood feature by those not art inclined;

    yet it is the one that grows on regular users the more they use it.
