HTC Wind to tout dual SIMs, Android 4.0

updated 08:10 pm EDT, Mon March 26, 2012

Phone debuts in China. Plans elsewhere unknown

HTC is nearing the launch of a new dual-SIM smartphone in its native China. The T328w Wind is powered by a Qualcomm 1GHz single core processor and a four-inch 800x480 screen. It will ship with Android 4.0, making it close in some respects to the One V.

The Wind will sport a five-megapixel rear-facing camera. As with many of its more recent smartphones, HTC has integrated Beats Audio and SRS processing for music fans.

The dual SIMs will make the phone appealing in eastern Europe and Asia, where owners like the flexibility of switching between two or more carriers to minimize call and data costs.

The Wind will come in a choice of colors including black, white, pink, and blue. HTC has priced the phone at 2,000 yuan ($317 USD). HTC has not indicated when it intends to launch the Wind in China, or if it has plans for the phone in other countries. [via]

    HTCs engineers are AWESOME!

Dual SIMs and a 4" display!!!

According to M$okia, Apple, RIM, Motorola etc...

Standard SIM cards are way too large to fit into new devices,
yet HTC managed to fit 2 full sized cards
    on a common sized device.

The smaller SIM needed argument starts to look more and more like bull excrement.

    SIMS are very small already,
Apple uses the Micro SIM on the latest devices,
now Apple and others want an even smaller standard,
    the Nano-SIM.

    What's next?
    The Pico-SIM?

At this rate users will need an atomic force microscope just to open the cradle for the SIM on iOS devices.

Apple's software only SIM will start to sound very attractive by then.

Why would these companies do not want users to change the SIMs?
