Will sport improved graphics, touch controls, more
A re-imagined version of a the classic Advanced Dungeons & Dragons-style game, Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition will be debuting on the iPad alongside the Windows release this summer, developer Overhaul Games has announced. The new version inherits the graphics quality of its sequel (using the Infinity Engine) as well as touch-friendly controls and menus, the Tales of the Sword Coast expansion and all-new content.
The original game was released in 1998, and Overhaul (formerly developers for Bioware) have been wanting to do a sequel for years. Promised additions to the original game will include a brand-new adventure and a new party member, though details have not yet been revealed. In pictures provided by Overhaul, the interface is still unrefined at this early stage and will gain larger type and iOS-native "camera" controls to allow players to zoom in or change viewpoint. A button toggle will alternate between camera lock and drag selection boxes.
Pricing and exact availability have not yet been announced. The company is also working on an Enhanced Edition of Baldur's Gate 2, again with no release date specified.
