Music service cuts deal for music digital rights

Rdio has moved on step closer to launching its digital music subscription service in Europe. The San Francisco-based company has signed a licensing agreement with PRS for Music, the organization that manages rights for 85,000 British songwriters and music publishers. The agreement will enable Rdio to legally stream the artists' music to Rdio's subscribers throughout Europe.

Rdio has a presence in the US, Canada, Brazil, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Portugal and Denmark. It already is licensed to offer almost 15 million tracks to its subscribers. In Europe, it will compete with several other streaming music services, including Spotify and Deezer.

Rdio has not given a specific date for its UK launch. Pricing for Rdio's service is expected to come in at 5 ($7 USD) per month for web-only access and 10 ($14 USD) per month for unlimited access on mobile and all other devices. [via The Next Web]
